French-influenced design and solid construction are the
characteristics of this beautiful kitchen island. With its graceful
arches and stylishly turned legs, the northern hard rock maple island
also boasts a 7"- thick work surface stalwart enough for years of
chopping and slicing. A lower shelf stores and displays heavy pots and
pans, small appliances or keepsakes. Made in USA |

wood. Designed to look like exquisite French country stools, these

Completed in small lots of 30 to 60, Enclume racks are made by
skilled metal crafters who touch each piece multiple times throughout the

The epitome of French café life, it's rumored that Xavier
Pauchard's Marais Collection (1934) was created for use in the weather
forecasting room on a battleship. We asked the manufacturer about this, but even
their records are unclear. Still, we do know that after its possible time at
sea, the Marais was supplied to bars and brasseries by breweries in exchange for
selling their beer. This arrangement ended in the 1970s, but that didn't stop
the demand for these durable chairs and stools made in France. Crafted of sheet
steel. Varnished gunmetal grey or powder coated lemon and vermillion.
Andrée Putman Morgans Chairs
Twenty-four years after the Morgans Hotel introduced the world
to the concept of the boutique hotel experience, this New York City landmark was
in need of updating. Hotel owners Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, who are the
former owners of Studio 54, had only one choice when choosing a designer for the
task. Namely, Andrée Putman, who had designed the original rooms in the early
’80s. The new rooms include the Morgans Chair (2008), which Putman created with
Emeco, the Pennyslvania-based furniture manufacturer
"When I close my eyes, this is the chair I see," said Philippe
Starck of his Icon Chair (2006), designed for Emeco. Like all Emeco seating, the
Icon is handcrafted in a 77-step patented construction process that includes
heat treatment and anodizing

Hudson is made by hand, using 80% recycled aluminum and finished in
either a highly polished or brushed surface. The Hudson Chair is
included in the design collection at MoMA and received the 2000 Good
Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum |
Leave it to designer Philippe Starck to find inspiration in the
furniture of Versailles when creating a chair for a Chinese restaurant in Paris.
The Kong Chair (2002) is hand crafted in Pennsylvania using the same 77-step
process that Emeco first developed for its Navy Chair.

Emeco Counter Stool - Polished |
| Legend has it that Wilton Dinges, who founded Emeco in 1944,
actually tossed a 1006 Navy Chair out the window of a six-story
building. The result? A few minor scratches |
After updating the iconic 1006 seat by Emeco for the Hudson Hotel in
New York City, Philippe Starck took on the Emeco Counter and Barstools,
stripping the classics of their back and arms and giving them an
irresistibly slender profile. |

| In the late 1990s, the Navy Chair's iconic design began catching the
attention of architects and designers, initiating a new era for Emeco.
Beginning with soft, recycled aluminum, 1006 Navy seating goes through a
series of hand-crafted processes, including heat treatment and
anodizing, to render the chair diamond-hard and virtually
indestructible. |
There is beauty in strength. Like many of the designs from the
1940s, the 1006 Navy" Counter Stool has its origins in the military's
demand for lightweight, corrosion-resistant equipment |
Wall tapestries can help absorb sound in kitchens
which have large expanses of hard surfaces. They also add a wonderful texture
and color. Originally, tapestries were used to cover walls of castles to
keep out the drafts and were transported when the family made seasonal moves.
They are a wonderful way to add color to your rooms.
